Susan Schechter was a pioneer in creating programs to explore how domestic violence impacts children. She created aprogram focused on children that were experiencing abuse and living within a home impacted by domestic violence. Susan saw the way that domestic violence, poverty,child abuse, and substance abuse intersect and worked on creating solutions to support best support the families. She wrote Women and Male Violence: The Visions and Struggles of the Battered Women's Movement in 1982and co-authored When Love Goes Wrong with Ann Jones and Effective Intervention in Domestic Violence and Child Maltreatment.Through the trainings, presentations, and writing that she did during her life, she was able to change community response to the women and children who experience violence a thome.
